【蘇州市2016屆高三期末考試(2016年1月16日)】The panda is the most widely recognized symbol among foreigners torepresent Chinese culture, followed by green tea and yin/yang, according to asurvey conducted by the Beijing Institute of Culture Innovation andCommunication. Researchers selected 18 symbols of Chinese culture, includingConfucius, Beijing opera and Kung Fu.
“It is interesting to find that foreigners have a very differentunderstanding of Chinese culture from us,” said Yu Dan, a professor of Chineseculture at Beijing Normal University.
The survey collected 2,407 questionnaires from the United States,United Kingdom, France, Australia, Japan and South Korea. Respondents wereasked to rate their understanding of Chinese culture on a five-point scale fromexcellent to poor. The results were indicated in the following chart:

第一段寫(xiě)作建議:一覽眾山小
第一步,寫(xiě)摘要先把握全局。本文一共是三段文字,加上一幅圖片。根據內容,我們可以把他們分為兩個(gè)部分,第一、二段為第一部分;第三段和圖片為第二部分。
第二步,概括出兩個(gè)部分的段落大意或者直接在文章中識別出中心句。第一部分的段落大意就是第一段的第一句話(huà)(the panda is the most widely recognized symbol among foreigners to represent Chinese culture…)。然后再Paraphrase一下就可以成為摘要的一句話(huà)了(比如the majority of foreigners choose the panda as the symbol of Chinese culture.)
概括第二部分的段落大意的難度比較大,也是今天閱卷評分時(shí)區分作文好差的分水嶺。首先,學(xué)生要根據圖中的單詞(poor, good, very good, excellent),猜測出單詞fair的大概意思(中等,英文是average)?!靖鹞纳綄?xiě)作指導】
我料想,絕大部分學(xué)生會(huì )比較直觀(guān)地描述圖片(Over 60% of the respondents surveyed have a fair understanding of Chinese culture.),很少有學(xué)生能寫(xiě)出更加“上義”的句子來(lái)(參考答案給出的是Foreigners in general lack a good understanding of Chinese culture.)。
第二段寫(xiě)作建議:大事化小
文章第二段要求考生自由表達“你認為最能代表中國文化的是什么?請說(shuō)明理由”。這個(gè)話(huà)題看起來(lái)非常嚴肅,也有點(diǎn)抽象。我建議同學(xué)們“大題小做”,把抽象的問(wèn)題具體化,把復雜的問(wèn)題簡(jiǎn)單化,寫(xiě)自己最熟悉的,寫(xiě)自己最拿手的。文章提及到六個(gè)象征物:熊貓、綠茶、陰陽(yáng)、孔子、京劇和功夫。我個(gè)人覺(jué)得,熊貓最好寫(xiě),動(dòng)物畢竟是學(xué)生們所熟悉的,可以說(shuō)的話(huà)比較多,而且用詞也趨于簡(jiǎn)單。
Personally, I would select the panda to symbolize Chinese culture for the following reasons. For one thing, China is native to the panda in danger of dying out, so we can use it as a unique identity of Chinese culture. For another, the animal looks so cute that it can attract more foreigners, especially children, to get closer to Chinese culture.
試卷參考樣文則是選擇了難度比較大的孔子:From my perspective, there is no denying that Confucius is the most representative symbol of Chinese culture. As a philosopher, Confucius not only represents the traditional Chinese culture, but has been influencing us Chinesepeople since ancient times. Nowadays we can find lots of Confucius institutes around the world, which provide platforms for the foreigners to learn about Chinese culture.
第三段寫(xiě)作建議:前呼后應
我們應該如何更好地推廣中國文化?關(guān)于這一點(diǎn),我們要與文章第一段遙相呼應,因為有百分之六十多的外國人對中國文化是一般的了解,所以說(shuō)這個(gè)群體才是我們推廣中國文化的主要目標群體,我們可以這樣寫(xiě)道:Promoting Chinese culture should target the group that has a fair understanding, in that it represents nearly two-thirds of foreigners.
然后,我們還可以繼續拿大熊貓來(lái)做文章:It may make sense to export more pandas to the zoos of foreign countries as a gesture of goodwill and friendship. In addition, more amazing culture festivals centered around the panda will be held to attract more foreign visitors to China.【葛文山寫(xiě)作指導】
