By Batia Laufer & Paul Nation, adapted for WWW by Tom Cobb
Use these tests to find the growth-edge of your vocabulary, or compare your RECOGNITION and PRODUCTION vocabularies
VERSION A
2000 level 3000 level 5000 level University Word List 10,000 level VERSION B
2000 level 3000 level 5000 levelUniversity Word List 10,000 level VERSION C
2000 level 3000 level 5000 level 10,000 level Tests A and B are equivalent versions of Nation and Laufer's Levels Test (controlled production format) which has been used by students all over the world.
Test C combines items from Tests A and B that are not cognate with French (does not apply to 1000 level, whch is mostly non-cognate, or to UWL, which is mostly cognate).
If you score below 83% on any level, you can build up this level by working on the corresponding wordlist on the
Linked Lists page.Use the linked concordance and dictionary as learning tools. Or if your prefer, read e-texts using
VP to identify zone words. It is not a good idea to do all the versions of the test at the sametime; do one version, and save others to test yourself after study.
