一般現在時(shí)表示現在的經(jīng)常性、習慣性動(dòng)作或狀態(tài)

如：

① We have meals three times a day.

我們一日吃三餐。(現在的習慣)

② He goes swimming twice a week.

他每周游泳兩次。

③ He is always ready to help others．

他總是樂(lè )于助人。(現在的狀態(tài))

④ The foreign guests live in the Beijing.( 現在存在的狀況或情況)

一般現在時(shí)還可以表示客觀(guān)真理、科學(xué)事實(shí)

如：

① The sun rises in the east. 太陽(yáng)從東方升起。

② Knowledge is power. 知識就是力量。

一般現在時(shí)還可用在……

1). 由 if, unless 引導的條件狀語(yǔ)從句中；

2). 由 when, before, until／till, as soon as, the moment, once 引導的時(shí)間狀語(yǔ)從句中；

3). 由 even if, no matter what／who／which／when／where／how 或 whatever, whoever, whichever, whenever, wherever, however 引導的讓步狀語(yǔ)從句中表示將來(lái)的動(dòng)作或狀態(tài)。

如：

① I'll go with you as soon as I finish my work.

我一完成工作就跟你走。

② If city noises are not kept from increasing, people will have to shout to be heard even at the dinner table 20 years from now.

如果不阻止城市噪音繼續增加的話(huà)，從現在起20年后人們即使在飯桌旁也得大喊著(zhù)才能被聽(tīng)到。

③ Whatever you say, I will not change my mind.

無(wú)論你說(shuō)什么，我都不會(huì )改變主意。

④ If it doesn't rain tomorrow, we'll go on a picnic.

⑤ You can join the club when you get a bit older.
