有些中文的習慣用語(yǔ)，英文中有跟它們完全對應的詞或詞組，意思幾乎分毫不差。
1、這山望著(zhù)那山高：The grass is always greener on theother hill.
例句：Almost all people see that the grass is greener on the other hill.They never feel satisfied with what they've already got.
人都是這山望著(zhù)那山高，對自己的狀況沒(méi)有滿(mǎn)意的時(shí)候。
2、上癮：get into one's blood
例句：It's astoundingly funny that many harmful things usually get into our blood.
說(shuō)來(lái)也怪，很多不好的事往往會(huì )使人上癮。
3、發(fā)牢騷：beef
例句：I'm really bored stiff with his sitting there doing nothing but beefing.
他坐在那里什么事也不干，總是發(fā)牢騷，真煩死人。
（短語(yǔ)bored stiff意為“感到無(wú)聊透頂的”）
4、等不及了：champ at the bit
例句：Let's shake the leg. The kids are champing at the bit.
咱們快點(diǎn)吧，孩子們都等不及了。
5、點(diǎn)頭哈腰：bow and scrape
例句：From the way she's bowing and scraping in front of the boss, you'll know what sort of person sheis.
從她在老板前點(diǎn)頭哈腰地那個(gè)模樣，你就知道她是個(gè)什么人了。
6、瘋瘋癲癲：go gaga
例句：Don't take what he says so seriously. He's always going gaga.
對他的話(huà)不要太在意了，他總是瘋瘋癲癲的。
7、說(shuō)話(huà)不算數：go back on one's words
例句：We cannot account on him. He always goes back on his words.
他那個(gè)人說(shuō)話(huà)從不算數，我們可不能依靠他。
8、廢話(huà)連篇：beat one's gums
例句：Who would enjoy sitting there listening to your beating your gums?
誰(shuí)喜歡坐在那里聽(tīng)你的廢話(huà)連篇？
9、恩將仇報：bite the hand that feeds one
例句：Don't you know she's the one that would bite the hand that feeds her?
你難道不知道她是個(gè)恩將仇報的人？
10、不忍心：not have the heart to do
例句：If I were you, I wouldn't have the heart to leave the kids at home uncared for.
如果我是你，我可不忍心把孩子們就在家里沒(méi)人照看
11、勤快：an eager beaver
例句：He's an eager beaver, never staying idle.
他特別勤快，從來(lái)沒(méi)有閑著(zhù)的時(shí)候。
（名詞beaver是“海貍”的意思）
12、以貌取人：judge a book by its cover
例句：You can't judge a book by its cover.
勿只憑外表判斷；不能以貌取人。
