Please和kindly在提出要求時(shí)都常見(jiàn)，特別是前者。除非在避免用詞重復的情況下，兩者很少完全同義。一般來(lái)說(shuō)：

1.       Kindly比please正式，甚至過(guò)于正式，此時(shí)常與will、would、could之類(lèi)情態(tài)詞搭配。

a)       Will you kindly sign this letter? 正式要求，比如談判雙方

b)      Please wipe the blackboard. 日常語(yǔ)氣，地位相當，比如同學(xué)之間

2.       Kindly單獨使用時(shí)，多用于居高臨下發(fā)出指示甚至下達命令，只是看起來(lái)略顯委婉。

a)       Kindly wipe the blackboard. 發(fā)出指示，上對下，比如老師對同學(xué)

b)      Kindly refrain from walkingon the grass. 提出要求，比如公園管理部門(mén)對游客

c)       Kindly move your car out ofthe front yard. 下命令，比如對不速之客

d)      Kindly remove your hand from myshoulder. 最后通牒，語(yǔ)帶譏刺

綜上可見(jiàn)，kindly要慎用，否則不但無(wú)法做到彬彬有禮，反而顯得傲慢自大。如：

用“Kindly add me to the guest list ofyour website”來(lái)提出請求就很不妥；此時(shí)宜用“Would you kindly add me to the guest list ofyour website”之類(lèi)句式，或干脆改為“Please add me to the guest list of your website”。

另外應避免在一句話(huà)里同時(shí)使用kindly與please，那樣不但顯得啰嗦，而且可能被看作印巴英語(yǔ)。
