JAKARTA, May 7 (Xinhua) -- Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono on Tuesday asked authorities to improve the country's bureaucracy as an effort to boost the country's investment climate.Yudhoyono told a cabinet meeting at the State Palace that there were still room to shorten the country's long and complicated bureaucracy process that has hampered business in the country."We have suffered many loss, or missed opportunity, because of bureaucracy, its complicated process for business," Yudhoyono said."I think it is time for us to carry out a revolution on bureaucracy," he said.Yudhoyono said bureaucratic processes in the country could be shorten to one third of the original scale."I have got a report that tens procedures must be undergone to get a license in the oil and gas sector. If we shorten them, they can be one third. This is one of the examples of how to get a business permit in our country," he said.Indonesian Home Affairs Minister Gamawan Fauzi has said that Indonesia ranked 6 out of the 10 ASEAN member countries in term of the speed of processing business license.In Indonesia, the issuance of the permit needs 43 days, longer than 18 days in Malaysia and only 2 hours in Singapore, which put Indonesia on rank 160 out of 189 respondent countries in the world, he said.Yudhoyono expected them to shorten the process to 17 days.We recommend:
