SEOUL, Sept. 21 (Xinhua) -- A South Korean civic group on Friday sent 500 tonnes of flour to the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK)'s flood victims, the first such aid since last December.
The South Korean chapter of World Vision, a Christian humanitarian organization, will send flour worth some 250 million won (220,487 U.S. dollars) to children in flood-hit South Pyongan Province.
The flour will be distributed at elementary schools and kindergartens in Anju and Gaechon cities.
The DPRK's state-run media have reported heavy floods have killed at least 169 people and left 400 missing.
The DPRK last week rejected the South Korean government's offer of flour, instant noodles and medicine, with its state media calling the offer "meager" and "insulting."
The two Koreas remain at odds over two deadly border clashes in 2010, which led to a suspension of almost all cross-border exchanges.
