WASHINGTON, Aug. 15 (Xinhua) -- The United States said on Wednesday that the Palestinians' fresh attempt to seek boosted status through the United Nations will not lead to a two-state solution."We continue to make clear to the Palestinian Authority leadership at all levels ... that we continue to oppose any efforts to advance their cause through the UN before they have had a full settlement with Israel," State Department spokeswoman Victoria Nuland told reporters."That's not the right sequence, and it's not going to lead to peace, it's not going to lead to two states living side by side in security," she said at a regular news briefing.Press reports said Palestinian National Authority (PNA) President Mahmoud Abbas was considering a second attempt at upgrading the status of the Palestinians in the UN General Assembly from an observer entity to a non-member observer.With an upgraded status, the Palestinians would be able to vote in the UN General Assembly and seek full membership in UN organizations and at the International Criminal Court.In addition, the upgrade would enhance the Palestinians' leverage in their future negotiations with Israel.More special coverages
