第5章英語(yǔ)數詞
一.概說(shuō)
1.定義和特征
1)表示"多少"和"第幾"的詞，叫做數詞(numeral)。
2)數詞與不定代詞相似，其用法或者相當于形容詞，或者相當于名詞。
2.種類(lèi)
1)基數詞 表示"多少"的詞叫做基數詞(cardinal numeral)，如：one (一)，twenty(二十)，hundred(百)等。
2)序數詞 表示"第幾"的詞叫做序數詞(ordinal numeral)，如：first (第一)，twentieth (第二十)，hundredth(第一百)等。
二.基數詞
100以下的基本的墓數詞

說(shuō)明：
1)13-19皆以后綴-teen[5ti:n]結尾，它們都有兩個(gè)重音。注意thirteen，fifteen，eighteen的發(fā)音和拼法。
2) 20-90第十位數的整數均以后綴-ty[ti]結尾。
3)十位數和個(gè)位數之間須用連字號"-"。如：twenty-one(二十一)，fifty-five(五十五)，ninety-nine(九十九)等。

三.基數詞的用法
基數詞在句中可用作下列句子成分：
1)主語(yǔ)
Two plus nine is eleven.二加九等于十一。
Four times six is twenty-four. 四乘六得二十四。
Three of them went to college last year.他們當中去年有三人上大學(xué)了。
(如說(shuō)the three of them，意思則是"他們三個(gè)人")
2)賓語(yǔ)
Give me two.給我兩個(gè)。
3)定語(yǔ)
There are nineteen students in our class.我們班有十九個(gè)同學(xué)。
My uncle bought two hand tractors recently.我叔叔最近買(mǎi)了兩臺手扶拖拉機。
(注)hundred(百)，thousand(千)和million(百萬(wàn))作定語(yǔ)用時(shí)一律不用復數；作名詞用(后面多跟of短語(yǔ))時(shí)則用復數。如：
Our country has a population of l,200 million people.我國有十二億人口。
There are three thousand students in the university.這所大學(xué)有三千學(xué)生。
Rice has been cultivated in the East for thousands of years.水稻在東方已經(jīng)種植了幾千年。
Maize is the most important food crop for millions of people in the world.玉米是全世界千百萬(wàn)人最主要的糧食。
4)表語(yǔ)
She is just fourteen.她剛十四歲。
He was already forty when he began to learn English他開(kāi)始學(xué)英語(yǔ)時(shí)已經(jīng)四十歲了。

五.序數詞的用法
序數詞在句中可用作下列各個(gè)句子成分：
1)主語(yǔ)
The first is better than the second.第一個(gè)比第二個(gè)要好。
2)賓語(yǔ)
He was among the first to arrive.他是首批到達的。
3)定語(yǔ)
China exploded its first atom bomb in October 1964.中國于1964年10月爆炸了第一顆原子彈。
His father died in the Second World War.他父親在第二次世界大戰中死去。
4)表語(yǔ)
Jack is always the first to get to the office in the morning.杰克每天早晨總是第一個(gè)到辦公室。
[注]序數詞前面常用定冠詞the。
六.分數和小數的讀法
1)分數(fraction)分子為基數詞，分母為序數詞并有復數。
1／2 one half [hB:f]； 1／3 one-third； 2／3 two-thirds；
1／4 one-fourth或 one quarter [5kwC:tE]； 3／4 three-fourths或 three quarters； 2 3/5 two and three-fifths.
2)小數(decimal)
0.5 zero [5ziErEu] point five； 1.25 one point two five； 3.458 three point four five eight.
七.年、月、日表示法
1)年代 年代前用in。如：
(in) 897讀作 (in) eight hundred and ninety-seven
(in) 1961讀作(in) nineteen sixty-one (或in nineteen hundred and sixty-one)
(in) 1905讀作(in) nine teen and five
(in) 1800讀作(in) eighteen hundred
2)月份 月份開(kāi)頭第一個(gè)字母須大寫(xiě)，表示"在某月"時(shí)，月份前面用介詞in。下面月份后附有縮寫(xiě)式。如：
(in) January Jan.一月 (in) April Apr.四月
(in)February Feb.二月 (in) May五月
(in) March Mar.三月 (in) June六月
(in) July七月(in) October Oct.十月
(in) August Aug.八月 (in)December Dec.十一月
(in) September Sept.九月 (in)November Nov.十二月
3)日期 用序數詞(前面須用the)表示；"在某日"，前面用介詞on。如：
(on) the first 一日 (on) the eighteenth 十八日
(on) the thirty=first 三十一日
4)某年某月某日
in September 1954 (讀作in September nineteen fifty four)1954年9月
On May 17，1960(讀作on May (the) seventeenth nineteen Sis-ty )，1960年5月17日
On October 1, 1949 (讀作On October (the) first，nineteen forty nine)1949年10月7日
[注] the twenties，the thirties等可用來(lái)表示"幾十年代"。如in the nineties of the last century(在上一世紀的九十年代)。
時(shí)刻表示法
1)英語(yǔ)表時(shí)刻其前用at。如：
[注]讀時(shí)間表如上課時(shí)間表和行車(chē)時(shí)間表時(shí)，可以直接照表上數字讀。日常生活中講時(shí)刻也可用這樣的說(shuō)法。如：
7：15讀作seven fifteen 11：30讀作eleven thirty
9：20讀作nine twenty 3：53讀作three fifty-three
