我們有了孩子之后，總想著(zhù)給他們一個(gè)陽(yáng)光燦爛的世界，但我們也想讓孩子們知道和發(fā)現生活，于是就總有那樣的日子，我們不得不告訴他們歲月也有艱難。類(lèi)似這樣生活中的常事，我們每天遇到，所以就被作家們寫(xiě)入了小說(shuō)中，描述得好，讓人們身臨其境；如果再多了文學(xué)的體現，甚至可以幫助你明白更多的人和事，可能給實(shí)際問(wèn)題提供不了非黑即白的答案，但一定可以給孩子們一個(gè)精神的境界。在這樣一個(gè)境界里，孩子們更容易看到自己的內心，與同伴和世界相處。

我敬重這樣的童書(shū)作者，告訴孩子們快樂(lè )，喜悅，和希望，也能夠講述發(fā)愁，困惑，和過(guò)不去的日子，能夠做到這點(diǎn)的作者具有卓越的表達能力。這些年童書(shū)看得多，大約每年翻閱上千本，閱讀兩三百本，我寫(xiě)了一個(gè)書(shū)單，推薦給需要的朋友們。我的書(shū)單沒(méi)有遵循各類(lèi)獎項，也沒(méi)有衡量是否暢銷(xiāo)，甚至沒(méi)有顧及所謂經(jīng)典，僅為朋友間口耳相傳，我自己和我的孩子們都看過(guò)。

我盡量選擇了這樣的書(shū)介紹給大家：這些書(shū)跨文化，都有比較大的視角，哪一個(gè)國家的孩子看都適合；這些書(shū)符合現代兒童的心理和行為，傳遞著(zhù)的價(jià)值不過(guò)時(shí)；這些書(shū)大人讀著(zhù)也很好，可以更了解孩子的想法，可以彌補兒時(shí)缺少童書(shū)的遺憾；這些書(shū)具有文學(xué)性，人文科學(xué)通才不論現在還是將來(lái)都更具有競爭力。

這次的書(shū)單收錄了美國出版的虛構類(lèi)小說(shuō)，經(jīng)典和流行并行，先只給10歲左右的孩子們，大約8-14歲的男孩女孩都可以接受。書(shū)不多，就八本，沒(méi)想著(zhù)大而全，也沒(méi)有安排順序，是點(diǎn)滴之水，不是滄海。先這些，后面可以慢慢補。
