辨析 when while as

when

（1）做當……時(shí)候講時(shí),既可以和瞬間動(dòng)詞連用,也可以和延續性動(dòng)詞連用,與主句所述動(dòng)作既可以同時(shí)發(fā)生,也可以先后發(fā)生,且when還有這時(shí),既然的意思.

（2）when當這時(shí)講時(shí),常用于固定句型be doing\be about to do(立即,馬上)\be on the point to do…….when……意為某人剛要/正要做……這時(shí)……, 如：

I was walking along the street when suddenly someone patted me on the shoulder from behind.

我正在街上走，這時(shí)突然有人從后面拍打我的肩膀

（3）when當既然講時(shí),引導狀語(yǔ)從句. 如：

Why do some rich people steal things when they could easily afford to buy them?

既然他們很容易買(mǎi)得起這些東西，為什么富人還要偷呢？

while

（1）做當……時(shí)候講時(shí),用于同時(shí)進(jìn)行的兩個(gè)延續性動(dòng)詞相伴隨而發(fā)生。

（2）while還可譯為然而,盡管的意思. while當然而講,表示兩個(gè)動(dòng)作進(jìn)行對比,如：

All of us are working hard while he is sleeping.

我們都在努力工作，然而他在睡覺(jué)。

（3）while當盡管講,如：

While the numbers of such developments are relatively small, the potential market is large.

盡管目前發(fā)展是有限的，但潛在的市場(chǎng)很大。

as

引導時(shí)間狀語(yǔ)從句時(shí),強調兩個(gè)持續性動(dòng)作同時(shí)發(fā)生,一般譯為隨著(zhù);一邊……一邊……,如：

He hurried home, looking behind as he went.

他匆忙回家，一邊走一邊往后看。
