1, The first mission of a newpaper is to tell the truth as nearly as the truth maybe ascertained.

2, The newspaper shall tell ALL the truth so fa as it can learn it, concerning the important affairs of America and the world.
2,報紙需要說(shuō)出凡它能獲取到的關(guān)涉美國和世界重大事件的全面的真相。
3,As a disseminator of the news, the paper shall observe the decencies that are obligatory upon a private gentleman.
3,作為新聞的傳播者,報紙要像一個(gè)紳士那樣恪守正直和體面。
4,What it prints shall be fit reading for the young as well as for the old.
4,印刷出來(lái)的東西要老少咸宜。
5,The newspaper's duty is to its readers and to the public at large, and not to the private interests of its owner.
報紙只需要對讀者和全體公眾負責,而不需對這張報紙老板的私利負責。
6, In the pursuit of truth, the newpaper shall be prepared to make sacrifices of its material fortunes, if such course be necessary for the public good.
6,在追求真相的過(guò)程中,報紙需要時(shí)刻準備著(zhù)為維護公共利益而犧牲自己的物質(zhì)利益。
7,The newspaper shall not be the ally of any special interest, but shall be fair and free and wholesome in its outlook on public affairs and public men.
7,報紙不應與任何利益集團結盟,面對公共事件和公共人物,需要保持公正、獨立、健全的形象。
